The Likelihood is that I WILL be coming to Arizona!: More Details to follow
in 1 to 2 days. RE: April trip to Sierra Vista & the All Arizona Messier
Marathon. Is anyone planning on being at the site on Thursday, April 3rd for a
really advanced observing session?
Steve Jaynes, from Oregon, would like to plan on sessions for Thursday, Friday
and Saturday nights. His current plans are in the following message.

HI Guys,
The Likelihood is that I WILL be coming to Arizona!: I am so looking
forward to some "warm" viewing. More Details to follow in 1 to 2 days. I'm
working with my secretary to get my business travel itinerary squared around so
I know exactly which days I'll be where.
Sorry for the "mushy" itinerary for now, but it should firm up by week's end.
The main change is that we will skip the So. Cal stops and come directly to
the All Arizona Star Party. I'll likely overnight in Arizona City on Wednesday
or Thursday night and come down to the viewing site early Friday AM. I'd
prefer to set up Thursday so I could get in a night of astro photos but I don't
want to abuse the hospitality of our site hosts.
AJ, let me know if it's OK to stay Thursday too, and if so, if others plan to
be there. I don't think I want to be there alone.
Thanks again to everyone,
Just for reference, my other star parties committed for this season are:
a.. Golden State Star Party - July
b.. Mt. Bachelor Oregon Star Party - August

AJ, Keith, Wayne, Jim, JD, and Steve,
Sorry I'm so slow getting back to you. I've been helping my daughter and
son-in-law empty their condo which just sold. I've also been waiting for
information I need to complete my spring travel plans. In the mean time,
diesel fuel is going up $.10 a day! I think I better leave SOON! Ha!
Thanks to all the kind Arizona astronomers who have responded with
suggestions and offers to share their observing sites. I wanted to let you all
know that I am very grateful for your replies.
I am however, STILL waiting to confirm some key dates for a couple of work
commitments before determining IF I am available to make an observing trip to
Arizona this spring, and if I am so lucky, the exact dates and specific
itinerary.
In a perfect world, and if everything works out OK, I hope to use the
following itinerary, but it is currently still TENTATIVE.
1) This segment unlikely as of 03/19/2008 - - Travel to Southern
California ~ March 31st for a few days R&R and a couple of days Disneyland,
Knots Berry Farm, etc. with my daughter and son-in-law.
2) Attend the All Arizona Messier Marathon, arriving Friday April 4th,
departing Sunday April 5th (waiting to confirm OK to arrive April 4th)
3) Visit Keith Mullen near Sierra Vista, at his RepoGazer observatory,
for ~ 4 nights Beginning Sunday Evening April 6th
4) Stay at the Butterfield RV park in Benson, the balance of my time in
Arizona, departing April 15th for a business commitment in Las Vegas.
This is just a straw-man, and I am still open to suggestions and offers...
:-)
Steve, With the cost of fuel, I suspect one trip to Arizona is all I can
muster this year, so the North Rim Star Party will have to wait for a different
year.
I should have a final word on my work commitments by next Tuesday or
Wednesday. I hope this all works out, as I need to work on my spring objects
in the Herschel 400 list (`225 objects in the log book so far).
Thank all of you so much and clear skies,
Steve Jaynes
