Howdy all;
I know it may seem far away, but it will be upon us soon. So, I am
announcing a trip to 5 Mile Meadow for the first weekend in June.
This site is near the little town of Happy Jack, Az. It is high in the
Rim country. It will be cold and dark and wonderful. The lesson from
last year is make certain that you bring a powerful insect repellent and
use it the instant you step out of the car on your ankles, otherwise you
will be a chigger meal! The other lesson was that it was 28 degree
Fahrenheit by 1:30 AM, so plan for a chilly night.
Jack Jones will be nice enough to provide a portapotty, otherwise there
are no facilities. Be prepared to camp out for several days and nights.
Last year's trip was one of our best ever, I am certainly hoping for
another just like it-without the insects gnawing away:-(
I have provided a map to the site to Stan Clark, our webmaster. I am
certain that he will have it posted in the next several days. They will
be on the SAC site, www.saguaroastro.org <http://www.saguaroastro.org/>
Already several people have spoken that they may stop in on their way to
the Grand Canyon Star Party. Sounds like a great time under the stars.
See ya there;
