[AZ-Observing] Vekol Friday Night

Considering Saturday afternoon skies, I'm really glad I was out Friday night.
Vekol Friday night, (even with the wind, which mostly stopped after sunset),
I would give a 7 - 8 for both transparency and seeing. The launch and comet
Ikeya-Zhang provided nice preludes for chasing H400 objects in Lynx and
Leo Minor.

The launch was quite spectacular. I followed it in 10X70 binocs and saw all
three stagings. Comet Ikeya-Zhang was naked-eye after dark, including the
tail (slightly averted vision). Through 14 and 20-inch scopes there is a
beautiful blue-green partial annulus surrounding the nucleus inside the coma
(ionized oxygen?) on the side opposite the sun. By all means, if you haven't
seen the comet from darker skies, take the first opportunity.
