[AZ-Observing] A good time at Hovatter Norte

Four of us enjoyed great skies at Hovatter Norte this weekend. (The names are
withheld to protect the co-conspirators!) Friday was very good, but the seeing
dropped-off around 10-ish. Saturday was perfect with fantastic transparency
and great seeing. The "Pierre 1-second doubles", 32 and 52 Ori, were clearly
split in the 14.5" f/4.7 at 360x. I logged some AJ 'Call for Observation'
objects and some Herschel-2 objects, and spent a lot of time observing Mars and
Saturn. A borrowed Mars filter did wonders for Mars. Saturn was very
interesting: The crepe ring was clearer than I had seen it in 15 years,
perhaps because of the reduced ring tilt, or maybe because of good conditions.
The H-II nebula NGC 604 within M33 was terrific. There was just too much good
stuff to mention here. Oh yeah, Saturday at 6:53 pm I was treated to a
serendipitous occultation of SAO-146891 by the dark limb of the crescent moon.
I didn't know it was planned for the evening!
