meetings at volunteer's homes (I really liked this small club atmosphere). At
that
time he had abandoned astronomy, sold his telescope, and had become very
religious
and had joined some kind of religious group.

Jeff has always been a little bit on the fanatical side of Religion.
He's a 7th Day Adventist one of the worst. Several of us have the idea that
the whole reason Jeff built the 24 back in the late seventies was so that he
could be the 1st to observe and report on the Rapture.

Could the beauty and wonder of Omega
Centauri turned him to religion, or was having to jack up to two or three
inches to
observe the last straw that caused him to abandon astronomy?

Nah that was not the reason I think it had something to do with
Jeff getting a divorce from his wife this was about 1980 as memory serves she
was even more fanatical about religion than he was.

Last I had heard about Jeff was he was working for the US Forest
Service and was living around the Payson area. As far as Astronomy is
concerned I have not heard if he even looks at the sky at all.
