If the size of the sprites really smaller than the amount of remaining 
memory you have then the only explanation I have is that maybe you 
have Aemulor running? Running Aemulor limits the amount of memory a 
single program can claim to the value supported by RISC OS 4 - about 
28MB. Without Aemulor running, each program can use up to 512MB of 
application memory.

If you are not running Aemulor and you consistently see this error, 
please send me the document.
