Well, my attempts to profile my printer using the flatbed as a cheapo
colorimeter have not succeeded...I have given up on this for now. I
just could not overcome the fact that my scanner profile was made with
one type of paper/ink, but my printer is using different paper and ink,
and the metamerism differences are too great. Trying to trick the
profile maker by manually fiddling the curves in the target scans [to
adjust for the different response in the scanner] proved to be too
difficult...the results were somewhat better perhaps than my earlier
attempt with no intervention, but still not quite good enough.
I was thinking of getting a new printer soon anyway, so I'm not going to
lose too much sleep over this!
Thanks Graeme and others for assistance whilst I was pulling myself
through yet another section of the CMS learning curve. :-)
