Hello list, hello Gerhard
Concerning limiting the TAC, the Argyl DeviceLinks are playing really in the high end league..

Graeme,
have You ever thought about also to define a licence for the profiles generated with Argyll ? Especially concerning devicelinks, all commercial vendors take a lot of money, if such profiles are bundled with commercial applications.

As I understand your last e-mail, it would cureently be possible to bundle Argyll devicelinks with commercial solutions without paying any licence fee to You...

If You would define,, that Argyll (DeviceLink) profiles could only be shared with e.g. "Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works licence".
Commercial licences should be available from You Graeme..

Gerhard,
Is it possible for You also to create profiles with other TAC-settings / basis profiles:

LimitTAC280_uncoatedFOGRA29_argyll.icc (from ISOuncoated)
LimitTAC240_ISOnewspaper26_argyll.icc
LimitTAC300_GRACoL2006coated_argyll.icc

This would be great
Regards
Jan-Peter

Hello list,
I did some tests, with profile Gerhard made for me to limit the TAC of
FOGRA39 data.
It is making a good job, very smooth rendering, preserving separation
and correct limiting of the TAC (What is not possible with X-Rite
High-End Profilemaker devicelink module)

I think to render a handful of profiles for some standards (FOGRA,
GRACoL, SWOP, IFRA...) would be helpful projekt.

For this profile is still one feature missing, to play in first league
of devicelinking products. This is the preservation of the pure blacks.
In the testprofile for FOGRA39 / ISOcoated generated with:

icclink -v -qh -kt -l300 -L95 -G -ir -cpp -dpp ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc
ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc link.icc

pure plack is preserved form 0 to 85 and then, CMY is added for the
darker colors leading to C47 M38 Y38 K100

I guess, that this is caused by the parameter -L95. Which limits Black
to the max of 95 even for pure blacks.

Gerhard, could You plaese make a seconsd profile with -L100 (or will
we gat the same result by just don´t specifying this parameter ?)
Please name this profile "LimitTAC300_coatedFOGRA39_argyll.icc"

Jan-Peter,

I built a new one with -L100, and as far as I have checked, this one now
preserves the black as expected.
