Dear Glenn
For the moment I am back at my Arachne machine in order to try to get it
connected with the ADSL modem/router.
I am in the process to work through all the proposals that I got from you.
With this first one I got a reaction.

In my ADSL setup page I see following result for the Arachne box although
without the upmost line ( ). That line I got with Baslin, just to let you
see what does not work ;(.
It stops at the line with the arrow which it repeats three times and which is
followed by a message the it has timed out its efforts.

For completeness I have attached a snapshot of the first page of the status
information page of the modem/ router setup.
Perhaps that give you some more ideas.
I have used all possible combinations you supplied. Also those variations
which gave Bastiaan some hope. Used the gateway which shows on the modem
status page, all without visible progress.
In the ppprtr.cfg I need to have dhcp as my_ip.
Otherwise there is no reaction from my router modem. With my former router/
modem I could easily connect with the adsl provider and from thereon no
problems. No Java, no PPPoA or E would bother me. The only difference in the
whole setup is another modem router. Nothing else has changed. The lightning
did its destructive work and since then I am stuck with my new modem router.
