Above file may be a card enabler for pcmcia operation.  You do need one.
NDIS is for win 3.1.  For Arachne you need the packet driver or maybe an odi
one will work.

You loaded windows drivers not dos ones.  Look on your cd for packetdrv or
similar directory.  Do you know what chipset the card has?  Usually the
driver tells you when loading.  I have a new Belkin 16 bit pccard that has
an .exe file to enable and a packet driver.  Though it appears packet is an
odi driver and needs lsl.com.  If your Netgear card is realtek 8139 your
drivers may be better for my card.  Please check what you have on cd.

Trying to load Arachne using lan drivers it does not use and take memory.

Need a dos packet driver and disable the others.  Need card enabler as well.

That is the clue because they are windoze drivers, not dos.
