Hi All
It seems that Ive finally made a connection tothis list,
Ive beentrying to do thisfor some time as im intersted in using dos with
broadband as well.
Im an IBM Thinkpad enthusiast/ collector here in Dorset UK, and the
last Thinkpad that IBM made with all the drivers for dos was the 390x.
thisis a 15in screen p111/ 500 with 256 megs ram.
Ive put dos 6.2 andWFWGS on it.
As ive Virgin .net broadband on ADSL max average connection speed up to
3mbs due to being 6k from the exchange,
Im using the netgear pcmcia cat 5 interface to the Linksys router,
This Netgear has the drivers for dos and connects to broadband using
Netscape 3 or Opera 6.
However ,
when trying to load Arachne in dos it comes up with the message
insufficient base memory to run .
Now ive tried to run Arachne in a dos window in but this doesnt work.
Obviously there are too many tsr's loading to leave enough base memory
for arachne.
I can post thefigures in due course , if theres any interest in this
problem.
Neeless to say I use anoter Thinkpad runnning Linux for my daily net
connections wnich has the cat 5 connection on the back .
The softwatre setupfor this router is done by a friend who hinks im mad
to play around with dos.
However its the only os that I can get my head around.
Ted. frater..
