We don't seem to be reaching a consensus of opinion.
Freelists was started to provide digests and it also provides archives. We
are in danger of failing to fully realise these facilities. We are in danger
of splitting the community between two lists.
For example: anyone posting to only coollist prevents those wanting a digest
from reading those post in that form. Is that your intention? BTW I don't
use digest so I don't say this from a selfish viewpoint. I am more than
happy to post to freelist to facilitate digests [not that anyone is likely
to want to read my rubbish ;-) ]
Some of the requested uses of the list(s) are and some are not mutually
exclusive. Perhaps we need to reduce the options; vote; and agree to go with
the majority.
Option 1
-----------
Use only freelists (for both arachne-general and off-topic)
Keep coollist solely for backup
Option 2
-----------
Use freelists for arachne general.
Use coollist for off-topic.
Post to only one. Read both if/as you wish.
If you think this would be a useful exercise please reply with either:
1. Yes to Option 1
2. Yes to Option 2
3. Yes to alternative option (please specify) Not too many please!
If you don't think this is a good idea please reply (dependant on your
politeness level) with:
1. Options respectfully declined.
2. Don't be so daft, it will never work.
3. Shut up John you **** (please don't specify)
John
