  It seems to me that there is an advantage in having a second list (at
least) located on another server.

  If one server goes down, changes hands, is "upgraded" into
uselessness, or otherwise becomes less Arachne-friendly, then you still
have another list to keep the family together.

  On the other hand, if all lists are on one server, and IT drops its
lunch, ALL the lights go out.

  Has nobody had a computer crash before you got around to that backup ?
