command.exe is to the NTs what command.com is to 9Xs. Just
a shell. There are two in the NTs, not to be confused with
IE, but I believe if I remember right the GUI shell is
explorer.exe, or similar, and CLI is command.exe. Which one
the system boots up to, can be changed in the boot.ini file.
It's been a long time since I've done this, so if someone's
interested it would be best to google it up, on how to do it.
But it can be done. I much prefer the CLI in the NTs to the
9Xs, especially for telneting, or ftping, sshing and such.
The NTs are far superior to the DOS systems, just different.
autoexec.bat and config.sys are there, just hidden, and can be
used, just as in DOS, but not needed by the NT system. The NT
system actually predates Win95, micro$oft's take on OS/2.

I think 98 was the last, maybe ME. But XP and Vista don't have any version

available with them at all.
Maybe I missed part of the conversation but xp and vista both have a cli.
It's not a separate dos like it was with 98 but there is a 'dos' cli
nontheless.
Goldern it! That's just what I was afraid of :-(((((((
Thanks anyway.
