Glenn, the problem is much more complex than that. I tried to reload and also tried to load
other URLs. As I said in my original post, I was able to run Arachne for a few hours the day
before so I know the basics. I know what to expect, how Arachne is supposed to react when
you enter a new URL, what kind of noise the hard drive will make and how long it takes to
open some of my favourite web pages.
In this case Arachne just can not connect to the internet and I suspect it has something to
do with the router because the problem started after the computer was shut off for a few
hours. DHCP is enabled in the router and it is set to 192.168.1.100 (there is only one
computer on the "network"). I would like to try another connection configuration with BOOTP
but I'm not sure what to enter in LANTCP.CFG:
#### Setup3 ####
Arachne.cfg:
[tcp/ip]
IP_Address BOOTP
NameServer
AltNameServer
Gateway 0.0.0.0
AltGateway 0.0.0.0
Netmask 0.0.0.0
TCPconfig LANTCP.CFG
bootp=?.?.?.?
hostname=arachne
sockdelay=30
mss=1024
