Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
Ray,
I've use NNTP (newsgroups) in the past, sort of like an
email list like this one and Freelists. However, it became
so cumbersome with the HUGE number of lists available
and the fact that the majority of news clients want to download
the entire list when you first run them, I've not used them much
in the last couple of years. Trumpet newsreader for DOS
still runs ok, and I've played with a small one called Mercury.
The other problem with newsgroups is it is a prime harvest
spot for spammers. I can almost guarantee that whichever
email address you use to post a message in one will be
harvested by spam bots and then the amount of junk email
will baloon almost out of control. Worse than posting your
email adress on your web site!
