[arachne] Slow dial-up download speed in Windows (was Re: anybody out there ?)

I have also experienced the same thing; with my 56Kbps modem, Windows
never achieved more than about 3 KB/s, whereas Arachne was about 50%
faster. That was one of the reasons why I switched from Netscape
Navigator 3 to Arachne in 1998.
Unfortunately, on DSL connections, Arachne is much slower than the
throughput that the DOS packet driver can achieve, so the roles are now
effectively reversed.
