Dear Glenn:
We seem to be having email communication problems for reasons I do not
understand.
I received your generous offer to custom make me an APM and replied to
it about 24 hours later when I had time to consider the issues that the
apm would have to deal with. I have just now received your email
saying that you did not receive my reply (which I sent to your "home"
email address).
Immediately below, I will attach a copy of my reply to you in the hope
of getting our discussion back on track.

Subject: A190J1 DOWNLOADS OF FILES WITHOUT INTERVENTION
Date: 03-Aug-07 at 12:42
From: Brian C. Murphy, 110271,3632
TO: GLENN MCCORKLE,INTERNET:GLENNMCCISNET.COM
GLENN,
Thank you for your generous offer to custom make an APM for me that will
send all downloads to the download directory without operator
intervention (or words to that effect).
I hope I am not on a wrong track again, as I have been off and on in the
past, but in a nutshell, I want A190J1's download procedures to operate
in the same manner as A170R3's download procedures.
NOW A170R3's download procedure would send 99% of all downloaded files
of all types direct to the local download directory (in my case because
I always run on a RAM drive, it sends them to the download directory in
the ram drive). When I unload the ram drive at the end of my Internet
session, my batch software then copies everything on the download
directory of the RAM drive to the G:\ARACHARD\ directory of my hard
drive, which is the general area from which I launch Arachne and is the
directory on which my browser resides. (To be more precise, I launch
Arachne from G:\ARACRAM\ and thence to G:ARACRAM on the RAM drive.)
There do seem to be a few odd types of files which A170 would not
properly download to anywhere, especially at the abondonware web site.
Having said that, I would like A190 to automatically send all
downloadable files of all types to the local download directory.
That would include all of the following file types, as well as any
others not named herein:
ZIP (& all other compressed files of all types from all operating
systems including: DOS, Windows, Linux and Mac.)
The files you mentioned as examples: ZIP, MPG, MP3, WAV;
All types of graphics files including: JPG, BMP, GIF, PCX, ETC.
All the types of files that happen to reside at this moment on my
G:\DOWNLOAD directory including: PDF, TXT, EXE, COM, BAT, CMD, LBR, ARK,
TCP, LZT, LZH, APM, UNARJ, MAK, C, XLS.
I hope that does not unnecessarily complicate matters from your
standpoint, but basically, if a particular type of file exists, and is
downloadable from somewhere, I want to be able to download it (which,
with a very few exceptions is what the A170R3 download procedure would
do).
Perhaps there is a way in which you could tell A190J1 to download any
file it is presented with for download to the local download directory.
I should note that, for me, the G:\DOWNLOAD\ directory is just a file
collection place. I store recently downloaded files there until I have
time to go through them, delete the useless ones, and archive the useful
ones to a set of LS120 disks organized by file function.

In closing, Glenn, I would note that I did not receive an APM from you.
I hope the foregoing will get us back on track as I was very much
looking forward to being able to use A190J1 with A170R3 download
procedures.
Thank you,
Brian Murphy
