The next version of freedos seems promising enough. Just who built this
diskette image with windows selfextractor (updated earlier this week)
( http://www.veder.com/nwdsk/#images ->
ftp://psy.med.rug.nl/nwdsk/fd16ara.exe ) or better: Why did Erwin
Veermans from Groningen University take the trouble?
For use with dosemu I'll have to strip the configuration files little:
Pathnames should be relative because the flop will be on /mnt
Packetdriver will be ready
Arachne is preconfigured on hdd
Obviously it's Dosemu rather than Arachne, where the bugs hang out, but
I must say it's a relief to switch back and forth between Arachne and
Mozilla, both online, which never worked in windows since there's no
packetdriver handle in the Dos prompt.
(Apart from all that: I'm just playing with my newly installed adsl
connection: Finally all those large downloads and online upgrades are
within reach and publications needn't go further than the webserver in
the closet which can sometimes be reached at http://brb.xs4all.nl)
