FWIW ...

I recently spent about three months trying to get my hands on
information regarding the most widely used DOS speech program ... and no
way was I going to be able to find the hardware [acceptable synthesizer]
to go with it.  About the only place it (they) still exist is in South
Africa [No, that is *not* a joke ...]

Since all speech software, and any necessary hardware, are "windows"
now, getting Arachne to 'speech friendly status' is totally moot.  And
before you get to thinking maybe you can save the 3rd world deaf from
windows, the guy who wrote the software and developed the synth has
turned his back on it, will not discuss it [if you can even find a way
to contact him] ...  BT,DT,GTBTTPI

Technology has reached the point now where it is cheaper to buy a 'doze
computer than to buy an add-on speech synthesizer.  Chew on that thought
for awhile ...
