Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!

Hi gangue,

Glenn mcc (head guru) wrote:-

Signal to Noise ration for this month.....

As-of Jun 10, 2005 .. 11:39pm EDT

S =3D=3D 13 (18.57%)
N =3D=3D 57 (81.43%)

IMO,

This list has become 81.43% useless :(

BTW,
The figures at Coollist are even worse. :(

As a result of LD becoming a GV (Grand Volunteer), we now have a solution=

to this problem, to some extent.

Let's agree that we all ONLY post arachne developmental postings to the f=
reelists
list. ALL other (OT) stuff remains on coollist.com

WHY? well the freelist set-up has archival settings, vacational and suspe=
nd
settings all in full working order. This then becomes the "main" list for=

serious arachne questions. To help this along, maybe Glenn G. would consi=
der
changing the header tag to something like:-

Arachne Developers and Technical Questions List

or something similar of his choice as owner and main moderator. The archi=
val
and other settings make this a much more viable and useful listing to the=

developers amongst us. Those who are un-interested in the OT stuff can si=
mply
unsub from coollist.com and see an immediate improve in s/n ratio on free=
lists.org
As asked, I can act as a sub moderator there, health permitting.

LD will take over the main running of the coollist.com pages, and I will
remain as a lurker, and on standby as moderator health permitting. (someb=
ody
needs to keep LD in check VBG ) Any techie questions will be gently refer=
red
to the techie
list at freelists.org, whilst the OT stuff can multiply as it likes on a4=
d
at coollist.com

CRUNCH!! For this to work, there can be no or very, very little cross-pos=
ting
between lists. Do we have the self discipline to do this? I wonder! This
week's challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to post OT to coolli=
st.com,
and ON TOPIC techie to freelists.org!

In the meantime, thanks for all the good wishes from you guys an gals on
my health problems, the people at arachne lists are not strangers, they
are simply friends I've never met in person, long may this continue.

Regards

mel
