Infact, we're hot on the trail of a memory bug right now; I expect
we'll bag it in a day or two.  Strange beast -- if you compile one
file with slightly different settings from all the others, there
is no apparent error, but the program misbehaves due to a memory 
error.  I'm betting that our editor bug is a very similar
insect.
