That was not a windows port of Arachne...
it was the same DOS program it has always been.
Stub32.exe was a very experimental and very short-lived 'HTTP-stub'
which allowed Arachne to access the windows TCP/IP stack.
Its purpose was to allow Arachne to be run in a full-screen dos-box
while in windows so that people who had win-modems that would not work
at-all when in dos mode to be able to use Arachne for HTTP downloads.
Since it was only an HTTP-stub... it could not do FTP, POP3, SMTP,
Gopher, Finger or Telnet. All it enabled a user to do was to download
pages, images, ZIP files and such via the HTTP protocol.
Since all it could do was HTTP downloads but not HTTP posts....
it was useless for posting messages on blogs.
(even tho blogs do use the HTTP protocol... they require the HTTP
'post method'... but stub32.exe only supports the HTTP 'get method')
In addition....
even its HTTP download capabilities were veeerrrryyyyy sloooooowwww.
It would sometimes take as long a full minute to even make the
connection to the HTTP server, and once the connection was made, it
would only achieve at-most 50% the normal download byte-rate.

Quite correct... development of the beta version of Arachne for Linux
was abandoned way back at v1.66b which was released about 8 years ago.
Arachne for Linux was comparable in capabilities to Arachne for DOS
when used with stub32.exe as described above.
In-other-words.... 'really crappy'. ;-)
But... be that as it may on all of those points.....
I have stub32.exe and I have Arachne for Linux v1.66b
both of which I would be more than happy to send to you if you would
like to give them a try.
