That SpeedTouch modem is not supposed to function under DOS. My
providers helpdesk did not even know what DOS is!

The modem has to communicate with the internet protocol via ethernet/LAN.
So, in principle this protocol is Operating System independent. 

Will Arachne run telnet on USB to use the Blackjack as a modem? Perhaps.
