So lack of ISA slots is not a problem for Arachne unless one tries to
connect to the Internet over a legacy connection using a WinModem, at

Yeah, all you need is a DSL line, a network card and some advice
from a DOS networking expert. And then you can run Arachne on an
up-to-date computer. Or you can use a "legacy" connection if you
can find the right kind of modem like the one Glenn managed to
Google up somehow.
So it's possible at least. Just not very likely. You have to know
what you're doing and know what to look for.
That's not true. I got arachne working just fine with my pci ethernet
card. No issues at all really. Just needed to know which IP addresses,
etc. To use. But that was no big deal.
