Mel,
You are not using any extended/expanded memory manager,
therefore your device drivers are all being loaded in conventional
memory. In your CONFIG.SYS file, right below the line that loads
HIMEM.SYS, you need to add this line:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
Also, all of the lines loading your various CD ROM drivers,
change the "device=" to "devicehigh=" (without quote marks).
Once these changes are done, save the file and reboot...
Now check your free memory!
