Reference to above Connect. If using a USR modem listed Connect speed is
lower than Rockwell chips. USR lists a stable connection speed and Rockwell
modems list a speed you will connect at some time. V90 modems retrain often
on connections so speed will adjust up or down.
Better test is find a 100k file on internet. Download and watch the time
clock on Arachne. Found huge differences on several versions of LSPPP.
Also the surge suppressor connected to computer can make a difference. Have
one from Australia that cuts down background noise on line as well as heavy
shielded phone cable from Belkin.
