Okay, so it is a bug in the installer that should be fixed ASAP -
because if Glenn and the other developers are like me, they probably
hate the thought that the stuff they have been working on so hard simply
does not get installed.

Because I am not a casual Arachne user - I do not install Arachne to
play around with it and then delete it again - so merging the files of
two or more versions just to work-around a bug in the installer would be
too much work. Besides, the average user would not want to do this,
either, so I do not see the point.

But I will happily try out the bug-fixed version once it will be
released. Which will hopefully be soon because telling people that
"upgrading Arachne is very easy, you just have to install it in a new
directory, then find out which files have changed since your old version
was released, replace the old files with the new ones with a file
manager, then either go through the whole precedure of setting up
Arachne again or merge the changes in your config files into the new
ones and finally delete the temporary Arachne directory" would make one
appear like a complete fool, and that is something any self-respecting
DOS and Arachne user should avoid.

Last but not least, am I right in my assumption that this bug is
well-known since so many people on this list seem to be familiar with
it, but except for me no one has ever bothered to report it? Well,
folks, if you have ever wondered why Arachne has so many bugs and so few
people are using it, now you know the answer. :-/

Regards,

Udo
