Bastiaan,
                     If the 1.83 version dials OK then 
the "hang up" is not the problem.  If you are
getting the error message that you said:
"ppp link is down, driver not installed"
then you are using epppd.exe instead of
lsppp.exe as the dialer.  That error message
is given when epppd.exe is used.  You never
could get connected with epppd.exe and Ray's
core.  If you can't figure out what got messed up
then the easy way for you to fix things may be to
do a new install using my SWTCHDSK .
