The FAQ file that appears in the unzipped stuff says this:
===================================================================
Q4: I can't unzip the file -- it says I don't have enough memory!
A: This happens if you use a 16-bit unzipper. You must use a 32-bit version
such as WinZip or PKZIP for Windows9x, NT, or XP. (of course, unzip for
Linux also works fine :)

So it appears it can't be installed from DOS, only from
Windoze.... or Linux!
Sheeeesh! If I wanted Windoze on this computer, I would have
installed it long ago. And if I had Linux I wouldn't need
ZipSlack! DUUUUUUH!
It even seems that the DOS version of unzip.exe was not even able to
correctly extract /sbin/agetty nor the shutdown script items needed for
rebooting via Ctrl+Alt+Del
But the DOS unzip seems to have done its work on the Win computer's hard
disk.
The only differences were that it is a FAT32 disk, and I ran unzip from
within a DOS window of Win98.
Comparing the installs on the two computers using "DIR \LINUX\*.* /S"
I got the following results:
DOS computer 16,869 files 138,189,649 bytes
Win computer (1) 13,847 files 138,475,190 bytes
Win computer (2) 13,828 files 138,189,649 bytes
(1) original installation using PKUNZIP.EXE v2.50
(2) second installation using UNZIP.EXE
