Also,
Try loading DOS in upper memory as well as HMA with a line
in CONFIG.SYS reading:
DOS=High,UMB
That is in addition to the advice I gave earlier to not use EMS
(Expanded Memory), but instead use only extended and XMS.
This also gives EMM386 control of the UMB and access to HMA.
In CONFIG.SYS:
device=c:\dos\emm386.exe noems
IF (big if) you MUST have EMS, try and determine how much you
really do need...limit the EMS to that size, leave rest for UMB
and HMA with this command in CONFIG.SYS:
device=c:\dos\emm386.exe 256 RAM
(the 256 gives 256 kb of EMS, RAM option gives HMA access for
device drivers)
