Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
Since I just turned off 'vacation' I don't know the background on this
... And since I'm still in the process of migrating to 1.73 (working on
GUI make-overs) I can't say that it's fair for me to do comparisons.
But with 1.71 and 284 items in cache (not counting headings), shell to
DOS is instantaneous. But my cache resides on a RAMdrive by default ...
which shouldn't make any difference on shelling out.
What is your extended v expanded memory? I've got my system set up for
Arachne with -0- extended memory and all XMS. (I use other settings when
not in Arachne configuration.)
l.d.
P.S. I just tested using external editor in 1.73 yesterday, and that
also was nearly instantaneous.
