Greg,
This might not be the whole answer, but part of it at least is the
fact that the 'editor' font and the displayed font (like in any HTML
document) are not the same. Also, the key remaping that was busted
in my core only applies to the editor font. There's probably more
to it tho, like 'AcceptCharset' and such.
