It doesn't always work as one would expect.

For example in your message as read from the Inbox, Arachne displays
character 156 as L with an acute accent '.

In the internal message editor, as opened to reply to your message, it
is blank.

With my external editor QEDIT which uses MS-DOS's own "extended IBM"
character set, this character is the British pound (money) symbol.

I have noticed that the characters displayed by Windows are different
again.
