As a result of the tests I did yesterday, I can confidently state
the following:

1. The F4 autodial will occur when Autodial is Yes and when there
   is a line "Editor..." in ARACHNE.CFG, to call an external
   editor. I tried three different editors with the same result.

2. This occurs with both v1.71UE01 and 1.73GPL.

3. With 1.73GPL it occurs with the default CORE.EXE as well as
   with the 386CORE.EXE and CORE.EX0 that were sent to me by Ray
   and (Bob? sorry, but I didn't keep the messages they were
   attached to).

4. The strange 2-3 second delay that I complained about
   disappeared during the testing for the above, and I was unable
   to reproduce it. However it is back again today, and occurs on
   both 171UE and 173GPL with default CORE.EXE, and in the case
   of 173 with both the 386 CORE.EXEs that were sent to me. This
   delay is noticable on almost all functions but is most obvious
   on shelling to DOS (alt-E) or exiting from Arachne.

5. Doing a File Compare of 386CORE.EXE and CORE.EX0 shows the
   following result:
        Comparing files 386CORE.EXE and CORE.EX0
        0002831C: 0C 16
   This may be significant --- but does not seem to affect the F4
   problem or the delay.
