Hats are a problem mostly because the Laser
hits the hat higher than a flat, even if it's perfectly aligned.
I've found that if I trace the design and see that it fits top to bottom the
way I want
then I stand in front of the machine and squat down to where I can see
the needles well and then align left to right and basically eyeball the
needle
to the seam on the cap. remember it doesn't have to be on the needle
your sewing with because they all line up to the same spot.
that works for us most of the time.
try it.

Subject: [amayausers] Centering problem
Hi,
I know I've read a few emails discussing the problem of the machine needle
not lining up with the light, but I can't find them and I can't remember if
there was a fix for this.
We didn't notice there was a difference at all untill we upgraded the Amaya
OS. Now there is a definite difference. When we line up the light on the
center point of the placement, the needle is off by at least 1/8th of an
inch. Doing hats this 1/8" is a noticible problem.
Obviously, we are now aware of it and can ajust accordingly, but it is just
one more step to check before sewing anything. Is there something that can
be done?
Thanks for any ideas or help!
