LuAnn,

I would put it around 4" under the neckline unless its on youth shirts then 
you may need to go a little higher.  For 2X you may drop it another inch.  I 
normally just set it on the shirt so see where it looks good cause I just 
eyeball everything but when embroidering names on back os sweatshirts i 
wouuld go around 4" from the neck and would think its about the same for 
transfers.
