This sounds rather like there may be a physical flaw on the CD that is 
causing this, however you could try a gentle polish of the CD to see if it's 
a bit of dirt that is causing the miss-read.

hi, need help with an error message i get when trying to copy an mp3 from a
CD to my hard drive. the error is:
data error (cyclic redundancy check)
any ideas? everything else on the CD copies fine, it's just one mp3 that
gives me this.
