I shall be interested to see your review when it appears.
In the meantime, you mentioning SD memory storage for recording
reminds me that when looking at the Roberts and a couple of other
models with in-built recording, I could see no sign of a slot for
cards anywhere which leads me to wonder if they do have card
slots. I'd be surprised and isappointed if they didn't. Anyone
know for certain?

Subject: [access-uk] THE BUG
Thanks to the People at Pure I've now got a Bug DAB set to check
out from a VI point of view. I'll write a full review soon and
advise listers that it's available rather than posting it. Feel
free thereafter to request a copy. But I thought some first
impressions might well interest people.
It's a funny looking little thing designed by Wayne Hemmingway of
Red Or Dead fame. Trivia fans may be interested to know that
he's the son of Billy TwoRivers, the former pro wrestler on the
telly. The Bug's display is not integrated into the main build.
It's attached to a gooseneck arm so that it can be moved around.
Pure appear to have learned from earlier mistakes because the
writing on the display is considerably easier to read both in
size and clarity than their earlier models.
Volume, station cruising and tuning work on the same principle
as the Pure 1000 pocket DAB and the MOS personal set. In other
words, both are achieved using a joystick control moved side to
side or up and down and pushed in for station selection.
The radio allows you to pause or rewind the digital stream. It's
also possible to do recordings, including timed recordings to an
SD card (not supplied). These can then be played back either
locally or on a computer.
Although the set is fairly menu driven, Pure have also assigned
many specific functions. pause, rewind and record to their own
buttons.
My impression is that the sound is better than the Evoke 1, Tthis
may be partly due to the fact that the stereo speakers are placed
on top of the unit angled slightly off vertical.
It's possible to set up to ten pre-sets.
Right, I'm off for more of a play. But basically I have
immediately fallen in love with it.
Cheers now.
Ian
