so at that rate you have just under 20 hours per GB, no calculator here and
not that worried about the exact maths anyway. This is quite a high bitrate
for an internet radio stream however. Many streams, particularly using
speech are much lower than this, typically 64KBPS or even 32.
I think it is probably fair to say then that somewhere between 1 and 2 GB is
likely to be a reasonable figure for the amount of data downloaded if you
are a regular internet radio listener.

There was a question on this list about how much data passed through
a connection while listening to radio streams. I think the
questioner may have a cap on data throughput on his connection. The
answer below is from a colleague.

if the stream is at 128 KBPS then:
128 KBPS
Divide by 8 = 16 KB/S
Multiply by 60 = 960 KB/Min
Multiply by 60 again = 57600 KB/Hour
Divide by 1024 = 56.25 MB/Hour
