[access-uk] Re: Wiring BT box?

Hi Billy,
That's ridiculous; I'm sure you can find a friendly electrician to do the
job. I had a go at moving and re-connecting an extension box but couldn't
re-connect, so a kind wife did it. We cheated and used a screwdriver as an
insertion tool but you really shouldn't do that, and if it had caused any
shorts, BT would have caned me.
Hth,
Mike

Trevor, thanks for the reply. I have already been in touch with BT, and
they tell me it will cost £132 for an engineer to come out to my home, and
fit an extension box in my bedroom.
That is the same price i payed BT for my line in the first place.
Thats why i'm thinking it would be easier to do the job ourselves.
If i could find out which colour wire goes where, my wife maybe be able to
do it for me.
Billy

Hi Billy,
Probably, but you need to know the colours of the 2, 3 or 4 tiny wires in
the cable and the numbers of the push-down sockets in the box. You will
also need a push-down tool, but they are only a few pence. Given that
you might not be able to do the job without sighted help, you might as
well get a vision to do it for you!
