Joan. I can certainly concur with where you are coming from regarding
training. It isn't so much the price I quibal about, more the value for
money from a quality perspective.

I once saw someone giving training to a JAWS user with a manual on their
lap, flicking back and forth to see how you were supposed to do things while
the session was in progress. They were paying full whack for that
'service'. If you do not carry this sort of stuff in your head you should
certainly NOT be claiming to be delivering high quality training and
charging accordingly.

Maybe this subject deservs a thread to itself, but I would say that it often
disturbs me that so many users are not at all clear about the what are JAWS,
or Window-Eyes or whatever commands, what are Windows commands and what are
application commands. You would have thought that could be made clear by
any professional trainer worth his or her money.

Ray.

Barry,

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

The guy I had cost a fortune and knew very little about Jaws I can tell you.

I've learned far more either from friends or from the Jaws list.

Best wishes,

Joan.

I would like to know how access companies come up with a price for service
and training. £400+ a day seems rather excessive. I also wonder if 'a day'
is actually 8 hours. When I first bought a computer six years ago I paid
£500 for two days set up and training with Jaws. The guy turned up at
around ten o'clock and left at around three o'clock. That's £50 an hour...
and I was obliged to give him lunch. At the time, this was considerably
cheaper than other companies too.
I understand that the training that these people undertake is expensive
although this guy told me that he taught himself Jaws by reading the help
files.

Barry
