[access-uk] Re: How we could pay less for the stuff

Hi Barry
I worked for Concept Systems for a few years it was their company policy
that all the sales people did the installation and training. This at £295 a
day. You are right it did not include a full day 10 till 3 was a typical
time allowing for travel there and back.

Needless to say the training was in effect an intensive extension to the
sales pitch. For example the benefits and features of the product and how
they worked. Not how the product is used in typical applications with
detailed examples of how best to use the equipment in different
circumstances. We did not get lunch though.

I don't think anyone could have called themselves a trainer and it was an
abuse of the customers trust.

Regards
Colin

> I would like to know how access companies come up with a price for service
and training. £400+ a day seems rather excessive. I also wonder if 'a day'
is actually 8 hours. When I first bought a computer six years ago I paid
£500 for two days set up and training with Jaws. The guy turned up at
around ten o'clock and left at around three o'clock. That's £50 an hour...
and I was obliged to give him lunch. At the time, this was considerably
cheaper than other companies too.
> I understand that the training that these people undertake is expensive
although this guy told me that he taught himself Jaws by reading the help
files.
