Hi Christopher, I failed to use this dictionary with later versions of JAWS.
Eventually, the full OED access provided by NLB was my solution.
Otherwise, the "define:" option in Google sometimes provides me with what I
need.
Best,
Richard Godfrey-McKay

Hello All,
A friend, who is not on this list, has the Shorter Oxford English
Dictionary on CD-ROM. When she tries to use the dictionary, she gets
very little help from JAWS. For example, JAWS will not tell her
where to type the word for which she wants a definition. She is
using JAWS version 5. I am not a JAWS user, so cannot offer any
screen reader advice!
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers,
Christopher
