[access-uk] Re: Audio Description and Sky

Hi,

I wish there was a way we could put on audio description ourselves, I mean
it is there to help us and I find it really useful but every few weeks it
goes off, I am not sure whether some one is taking it off deliberately or
whether it is just one of those irritating automatic things. can't they
just have one of those numerous hardly used buttons on the remotes to allow
us to put on or take off AD like you could for subtitles. I mean the
pressing cursor 4 time then 3 times etc is too hard, if by accident you
pressed 3 times and then 4 times you'd probably mess up the whole thing. by
far the easiest thing would be to have a switch on/off button for AD on the
remote, what's the point of having AD if we can't even switch it on without
sighted assistance?

My family haven't complained about me having AD so far though I know it must
be irritating to see some thing happening on the screen and then get told
about it by AD but if they do complain I will just say they have to put up
with it like so many irritating things I have to put up with everyday. this
may seem heartless but I don't want to be sitting in a corner with a
headset. it will be too isolating whereas tv watching should be a social
experience.

just my take, Husna
