Hi Carol,
Following on from what Steve has said, I looked at the site.
I'll do my best to explain - but no allowances for
accessibility. And this is an extremely basic explanation.
Before we start, this is a £150 box, including VAT.
Basically, it's a smallish box that won't fill your room up,
which connects into a SCART socket on your TV.
There is then a connection to your PC system. It's not
entirely clear what it is. Your PC system must have a
broadband connection.
Now we must assume you are no longer in good old Britain,
but in some far flung hotel somewhere in never never land.
You are absolutely aching to see Corrie.
So you hook up your trusty lap top to the hotel's high speed
internet connection (at however much a day that costs) and
somehow link into your home computer system. (I therefore
suspect this means you may have to have a fixed IP address)
Provided you have left all the necessary equipment switched
on at home, you can then get the SlingBox to "stream" you
whatever you want to watch that is normally available on
your home TV.
But what seems odd to me is that normally your UPLOAD speed
is way below your download speed. So what's the quality
going to be like?
Well, I have no doubt that my wife will be wanting one, but
she (and all of you) will have to wait until August, which
is our wedding anniversary - and as luck would have it, our
13th.
George.

Steve,
Never heard of this before and obviously have missed a
message or two . . ..
I took a look at the WEB site and understand what it is but
of course, with
no eyes readily available, have no idea how large and what
stations you can
pick up from anywhere.
Further information, if you have it, would be interesting.
Also, do you know how accessible the software is for us?
Do you have one yet, or is it on the Christmas list?
