Thanks, George- I rather thought that I was "clutching at straws"!  It's a
pity that the shop that did the upgrade did not tell me that the new
mother board would support USB and fit at least one port.  They were only
supposed to replace the HD and graphics card but told me when the machine
was returned that they had to replace the Mother Board too!
