Hello,
Ari, I had not heard of Top-Braille before, so thanks for pointing it out.
Top-Braille is a small, self-contained, handheld
scanning device with both braille and audio
output. The user tracks the device along a line
of printed text, and tactile/audio signals give
directions if the user is straying off the
line. The output is read character by character
and cannot be read word by word.
As for price, this can be found by downloading an
order form, which is a Word document, in French,
of course. The price quoted is three thousand
Euros, excluding VAT. At the current exchange
rate, the cost in sterling would be around
£2250. The French VAT quoted is 5.5 per cent,
giving a total price of 3165 Euros.
The English version of the website is easy to
understand, despite a few wayward
translations! For a direct link to the English pages, visit
http://www.top-braille.com/index.php?lang=en
Before you reach the English text, there is some
French text which has to do with changing the visual appearance of the page.
Cheers,
Christopher
