Mary,
Although by no means an expert, I wonder wether in the specific 
example you mention the fact that the BBC Player is coming in has 
anything to do with it.  On my system I have theXP POP up blocker 
enabled and when I activate a Listen Again link I initially get a message 
asking whether I want to continue blocking this program, but if I ignore 
the message the stream starts and plays nornmally.

Could you give us anotherr example of similar behaviour other than a 
BBC link?
