Can you run "ipcs -q" while 3ddeskd is running and once
while it isn't and then send the output?

Hunch:  are you kill -9  3ddeskd?  then trying to run
as user?  With kill -9 the signal won't be caught and the
msgqueue won't be removed - which is normally not a problem
unless you try to reuse the msgqueue as another user... again
just a hunch.  try just a plain kill
